In the beautiful City of Lights, a new year has dawned and January is quickly coming to an end.  Before it does, make sure to catch a game of Demon basketball at Northwestern State University.  In February, be sure to visit the exhibit at Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum detailing Louisiana's role in WWII "The Pelican State Goes to War."

Around the park, we have been refreshing, renewing, and reviving for the new year.  We take pride in having a beautiful environment at the St. Luke RV Park and are bringing in more vintage pieces and photo opportunities.  Keep an eye out and you are sure to notice the changes.  Please post pictures with the hashtag #StLukeRVPark.

We have had our first cold snap this season and are looking forward to another beautiful brisk autumn in the City of Natchitoches.  Pumpkin pie, yams, dressing, turkey, ham, green bean casserole, and cranberry sauce can only mean one thing--Thanksgiving!  At this time of year, we stop to count our blessings and enjoy food, football, family, and fun. 

In the true spirit of the season, come experience the best Natchitoches has to offer and join us for the Turn on the Holidays Festival of Lights Opening Ceremony on Saturday, November 22.  This all day event features live musical entertainment, children’s activities, a Natchitoches Tri-Centennial Closing Celebration and Fireworks!

It's almost here.  Haunted houses, pumpkins, scary movies, candy apples, costumes, and lots and lots of candy.  Witch Way to Main Street offers your favorite little guys and ghouls the opportunity to enjoy safe Halloween fun on Friday, October 31 from 5-7pm.  Witch Way to Main Street will take place on Front Street and allow children age 12 and younger to trick-or-treat at participating downtown businesses and sponsored booths. Witch Way will also feature face painting, Sparky the Fire Dog, a Haunted House, tours of the “Haunted” Natchitoches Parish Library Bookmobile, games and more! In addition, local high school spirit groups will sponsor games and activities on the downtown riverbank at the all-new Ghoul School. Ghoul School is designed for older children and will feature games and prizes as well as an obstacle course for ghouls and goblins in training. Children must be in costume and accompanied by an adult to participate. Candy and prizes will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The days are growing shorter and the leaves will be changing color soon, but the City of Lights is heating up.  In Natchitoches, fall means FOOTBALL.  The Northwestern State University (NSU) Demons opened their season with the historic White Out game on Thursday, August 28.  Get your season tickets at http://www.nsutickets.com/ and never miss another game.  Of course, football fans in the know stay at St. Luke RV Park and get the best rates in Natchitoches.

 

Natchitoches continues to celebrate its tricentennial.  That's 300 years and makes the City of Lights the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase.  When we celebrate, we celebrate big with the Meat Pie Festival on September 12 and 13.  Events on the 13th include a Founder's Day Celebration and aerobatic Air Show and climax with fireworks at 9pm.  Make your reservations today at St. Luke RV Park.  You don't want to miss out on the celebration.

It was a busy summer in the City of Lights.  If you missed the fireworks displays, they were spectacular as always.  The NSU Folk Festival gave vendors an opportunity to display their wares and inform visitors and natives alike about our rich history.  While the children are returning to school or getting ready to do so, Natchitoches is gearing up for a busy fall festival and holiday season. 

 

If you know Natchitoches, you know that this is the birthplace of the meat pie.  The 12th Annual Meat Pie Festival will be held September 12 and 13 on the riverbank downtown.  Don't forget to make time to attend the Natchitoches Parish Fair September 21 through September 27.  The carnival opens Wednesday, September 24 and offers family friendly fun for all.

 

Can you believe that the holidays are almost here? Bring the kids downtown for Witch Way on Main Street for a safe Halloween activity on October 31 with candy, face painting, and spooky treats. 

 

The City of Lights is gearing up to put its best holiday face forward.  Please join us on Saturday, November 22 as we turn on over 300,000 Christmas lights for our "Turn on the Holidays" event in downtown Natchitoches.  This event marks the opening ceremony for the Christmas Festival. 

 

Saturday, December 6, 2014 marks the 88th Annual Christmas Festival, Louisiana’s premiere holiday event.  Ranked 3rd "Best Holiday Light Show" in the nation by Yahoo.com, celebrate the Christmas Season in Louisiana's oldest city! Enjoy our daylong festival filled with live musical entertainment, arts, crafts and food vendors, a parade and a magnificent fireworks show choreographed to holiday music over the riverbank of Cane River Lake.  Admission armbands are required for entry to Front Street and Downtown Riverbank. Prior to November 1: $6 ages 12 & over, $4 children 6-11 & Free under 5. Festival Day: $8 ages 12 & over, $4 children 6-11 & Free under 5.

 

Summer has officially arrived in the City of Lights.  Summer means good food, family, and fun in the sun.  This year Natchitoches marks its 300th year as the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase.  The Tri-Centennial Celebration events include the Cane River Green Market every Saturday morning from 8am until noon. Good fresh food available for purchase directly from the grower.  You can only find fresher produce if you grow it yourself. 

 

As Natchitoches celebrates its 300th year, the United States celebrates 238 years of independence on Friday, July 4th.  Join in on the family fun downtown with waterslides, fireworks, $2 hotdogs, a car show, and a live band.
